Saddhamma Meditation Society is a non-profit organization 501(c)(3) established with the goal of propagating the Buddhist teachings and guiding Vipassanā meditation according to the Theravāda Buddhist tradition. The activities of the meditation center are organized under the guidance and counsel of the Venerable Abbot Khippapañño Kim Triệu.
Initially, the meditation center was just two undeveloped lots B and C deep in the forest along with an old trailer donated by Mrs. Phạm Thị Bạch Tuyết, Dharma name Huyền Linh, to the late Chief Elder Shwe Oo Min, the abbot of Shwe Oo Min Dhammasukha Meditation Center in Mingaladon district, Yangon city, Myanmar. Later, to facilitate the care of these two pieces of land, the late Chief Elder Shwe Oo Min offered to transfer them to the Venerable Abbot Khippapañño Kim Triệu, who was the abbot of Ky Vien Tu in the neighboring area (Washington D.C. metro area). With the spirit of honoring the teacher and developing the Dharma, the Venerable Abbot Khippapañño Kim Triệu and his disciples established the Saddhamma Meditation Society (“SMS”) on August 12, 2009, in Richmond city, Virginia, to initiate the birth of Saddhamma Meditation Society (Tâm Pháp Thiền Viện) and officially became a non-profit organization 501(c)(3) shortly thereafter.
